Please forgive me, I have been working on the camera problem, I bought new ones, etc.

I think the problem may be with the very high snow between here and Trump Lake.

I rebooted everything and still no update. Our internet is very slow up here, that may be the problem: 1.5

It has everything to do with the snow. Wi-Fi signals don’t travel far though a high moisture content barrier. Once we get a good bit of spring thaw they should start working again. So, sometime in June I think.

I am sure that most of you that live up here know how temperamental the lake can be. Well, I learned my lesson today. When you see no one on the lake there usually is a good reason. I went snow shoeing on the lake today and found a lot of soft ice where I feel through up to my knees. Ended up having to crawl back to shore as every time I tried to get up I would go through again. I am fine and although I received a good cardio workout I think I don’t want to do that again.

Camera update: I have received three new cameras. I had to bring them to GB to have them set up for the internet. I wanted to put them inside where I had the originals, but at night they reflect off the glass. Once I get the first one perfected, I will get them on line one a a time. Right now I have Cam 3 on our lower veranda temporarily.

Every year I build a 20 foot icicle two weeks before the Fish-O-Ree. I will put one new camera, up just for the icicle and turkeys and other birds and foxes, etc.

Camera update……camera #3 failed. I just bought three new latest and greatest. They will be here this week. If all goes well and the weatherman behaves, you will be happy with the new cameras.

Well we went for a walk on the lake yesterday and to our surprise in spots where we walked under our feet we could hear a kind of drumming and than ice cracking. It even happened when our dog was rolling in the snow. Unless I feel like speed walking I don’t think I will do anymore walking on the lake. Being at the lake has been very relaxing.

We just got dish network for TV. Must have 2-year contract which is ok, but the good part is you can turn it off for up to 6 months of the year. We only go up in summers, so this helps. Be aware though, the 2 year contract is 24 months of “on” so it s really like a 4 year contract. They also offer internet, but it was like $50 a month and could not be turned off for winter. Let me know if you find a better price for internet, I would be interested. TV costs we signed up and first 6 months at 19.95 then it went to 34.95 for 120 channel package, also first 3 months included every pay channel!!! That was nice. Good Luck and keep me posted!!

Hi Mary, just a short note to say hi and a Merry Christmas. I watched the video of the house being
taken down. You do know that my Uncle Clarence and Aunt Kay lived there. I believe the late 30’s
or early 40’s. Not sure if they had it built but think they did. Will have to check with Marv and see if
he has any info. Enjoy the cold weather, last weekend it was 70 degrees out here. It’s cooled down
now. I enjoy seeing the snow on the lake from the WebCam.

Yes, the old house is gone. I knew your aunt and uncle owned it before my folks. Dad bought it in 1946, just before I was born in ’47. Did the Reetz (sp) farm there. I think we had a chicken coop for a while but only my pet Easter Rooster occupied it @!!

I have a few pictures I’d like to share with you and also see if you can identify 3 kids that we played with. Could you email me at mfbeck@charter.net?

Have a great year!

I still so enjoy the cameras Jerry, and really appreciate your effort, and the assistance you get from others, to keep them up and running!

Jerry, is there a chance that the order of the comments can be changed from the oldest comments at the top, to the newest comments being at the top? It may encourage more postings if viewers see the latest comments posted at the top…..it might appear more ‘current’…..just a thought.

What a coincidence, this very morning on our way to Menominee, Mi we stopped in Coleman and bought an antique from a fine gentleman with the same last name as yours. He told me he had grandchildren in Portland. Is there any chance that you could be related to this very fine man in Coleman. I have a kid sister in Oregon City who checks the cameras every day.

By nine in the morning, two cameras WILL be back on Trump Lake. I have been to busy going to funerals so my advice to you is: Do not get old!

We were at the Kress Inn, when I discovered late one evening the two lake cameras suffered a big fall. I called our lake association president Rich Wickersheim and asked him to check them in the morning and keep them from getting wet. Rich went over there in the dark and picked up the winter heated camera box and cameras and returned them to my garage. That saved me from having to buy new cameras, THANK YOU, RICH!

I have them in my basement right now, looking out the patio door. Tomorrow or the next day I will have them in their summer box and back on the lake. It got down to 7° last night, Spring is not here yet. In De Pere we saw many flocks of Robins but not one here at Trump Lake.

Hi Lorie,

I just have not had the time to do justice to the cameras. I have spent all my time going to funerals, all my ol’ working buddies and cousins are checking out on me. Last week alone we went to five funerals.

Today, I just got the cameras in their heated winter box. I ran into a few problems as it was misting all day, so I brought the lake cameras to our front deck. Tomorrow I will tune the focus, it is too dark now, then bring them back to the lake.

As far as wildlife goes, we always have deer in our back yard, but I have not seen one since deer season. However the foxes still come every night out in front. I do have a flood light that comes on automatically when the fox comes. We usually see the mama fox and four young ones. So if you check the cameras at the right time, you will see them tonight.

Hi Lorie,

The cameras are located 20 miles north of Maiden Lake. We are exactly 2 miles from Hy32 on Trump Lake Road. My father bought the Dunn cottage in 1952. We are across the street and the camera that rotates is in our front window. I missed the first Trump Lake Association meeting since 1952 this year as we had to attend a graduation in Virginia, I do have more cameras that I move around for people to see work on their places or to see the foxes or bears or whatever, but I have been to busy to get them set up this year, but I will when I get the time.

Thanks for your interest and input, Lorie, my kid sister checks on me everyday from Oregon.

Hello. We often have enquiries about local history and families related to original Trump Lake residents. A gentleman named Peter Noer, who is 80, is the descendent of the Dr. who founded the first hospital in Wabeno, and the family had a cottage there. He is looking to find out if anyone remembers the Noers, or the Bierbaums. The Bierbaum’s had a local business and also had a place on Trump Lake. If anyone knew them, you could contact the library art
the email above, or 715-473-4131, or contact Mr. Noer directly, at his email address:

Thanks for keeping your wonderful history and memories of the past as well as new memories at the lake for future generations.

Several months ago Iserve formerly ez-net stopped offering DSL in this area so I had to go with another internet provider. I spent many hours and dollars to get people in here to get their modem/router to work. You can never talk to the same person more than once. About thirty different people could not get it work properly. Last Friday with the help of Jason Boor (Wisconsin Computers), we have it running about as good as with ez-net with a modem that a good neighbor offered me.

I have four more cameras that I would move to where ever people would have an interest, like fox and other animals. I would put a camera for people who are having a new septic or building going on as long it was within 400′ of someone with a good router. These were by invitation only and they were live 24/7. I hope to get the other D-Link back on line from the other end of Trump Lake.

I must give a big thank you to Greg Tice, the very kind gentleman who helped me originally purchase the equipment and set it up and piggy-back on his website. And Mary and Bruce Beck for getting it to: http://www.trumplake.org

Today I will go out and check the ice thickness and post it on camera #2, thank you for the input.

It is nice to know that someone else enjoys the north woods as much as we do and also checks the ice from Colorado. we are in the foot hills and have watched the ice leave Evergreen Lake while it is still frozen in Wisconsin

Hi David,

It appears we may be assembling either a Colorado East or a Wisconsin West faction!! We have not yet been to Evergreen, but are determined to get over that way soon, if not before summer, then fall for sure!

Hi Folks,

Sure do enjoy looking at the lake via your cam. I moved away from Trump lake when I was about 20 years old. Lots has changed since then. I remember MANY days fishing, swimming and cruising for chicks. I had a great youth on that lake. I keep the cam in my “favorites”. Thanks again.

First of all I want to thank Greg Tice for inviting me to piggy-back on his web-site. He told me what to buy, then I brought them to his office and he set them up for me with my router. Then I added a third camera which Greg set up for me.

The first year I had the lake camera in our son’s place across the street from us as he is on the lake side. I had bought rotators which are 240 volt, so I had to buy transformers and take them apart and re-wire them to go from 120 to 240. And then buy timers to turn the rotators on for 1 second every five minutes to always give a different view of the lake. The rotators failed often. So, I asked Greg if I could add another camera and abandon the rotators for the lake cameras. He said, “Fine” and helped me out.

So I built a weather proof box with a glass door and moved them down to the lake side. All was well until I read that the cameras were good from 32° to 104°. As you know sometime it does get colder than 32. So I went and checked with my friend Quentin Velicer a retired home builder as to what to buy to build a box for the cameras for the winter weather. Quinten said: I will build you a box. I left with him a 12” x 12” therm o pane that I got from Old Castle Glass in Green Bay. Quint built a 4” thick foam box for me and I installed a Honeywell Weather Watcher thermostat with a 7½ watt light bulb and a thermometer. It worked just fine all winter.

This morning I had noticed that Cam #1 was not transmitting just as we were getting ready to go out of town to visit two different relatives in nursing homes. I have a feeling that it got too warm in the box for the cameras. So having no time to spare, I went to the lake and removed #1 from the box and brought it across the street and it started working over here so just stuck in the window of our lower level looking south to Terrians property.

In the morning I hope to re install the two lake cameras in their summer box and all will be back to normal. And with Greg’s permission I am in the process of buying another camera to move around Trump Lake to who ever had a router. I have more ideas, hang on, it will be a fun ride!!!!!
