A few months ago I made my annual call to CenturyLink to renew the discounts on our account and found that they now have "CenturyLink Price for Life" which means there are no prices changes or need to call up every year to get the price back down to reality. I got tired of calling them every year so this is good news. If you have CenturyLink service at your place I'd recommend taking advantage of it. Not sure you are automatically signed up for this program so you might want to give them a call. Guessing the downside of this new program may be that we won't see increased tier speeds if they raise them.

That is a great solution if you are fortunate enough to get decent cell reception at your place.  Not so fortunate for us at our location.  If I wear my tinfoil hat just right I can make a call from our place. The good thing is we have alot of available technologies to choose from.

We have cellcom internet, it goes where we go in the home territory.  this means I take the module to the cottage when we go, I can work on the computer in the car on the way to and from the cottage.  I then have it in green Bay, also, removing the need to get an internet account at both places.  I switched our phones at the cottage to Cellcom, also.  They have a setup (kind of expensive up front) where you get a box that receives the incoming and you use your home phones, just disconnect from the main phone line coming in.  You get to keep your 276 number that way.  We did this as everyone has had our phone number for over 20 years and we wanted to keep it.   We also wanted to keep a phone permanently at the cottage for safety purposes.  It seems everyone takes off with the cell phones and those left there babysitting or whatever don't have a phone in case of emergency.  this way there is always a phone at the cottage for emergencies.  (Can you tell we're a nurse and paramedic/firefighter).  for the 3 lines and internet we pay $140/mo with all the minutes we need.  We got rid of the phone at home in Green Bay as the only ones who called were ex-wives and political candidates!Confused

We have Centurytel/CenturyLink "Naked" DSL for our internet access/broadband at our place in the Northwoods. Naked means we don't use the line for phone service, only internet access.  Our bill went up by $20/month so it was time for my yearly call to CenturyTel.  It took about 10 minutes total and we save $240 over the next 12 months. The only downside is we had to commit to another year of service.
